ModelSim 5.5e Portable

ModelSim 5.5e portable simulator to run VHDL Programs

After Downloading extract the compressed file anywhere you want then goto win32 folder and run modelsim.exe

Download ModelSim 5.5e 

Steps To Execute VHDL program in ModelSim

1. Write program
Goto file>new>source>vhdl

2. New window will appear then type code and save it on desktop (recommended)


3. For compile click on design in main window then click compile .

4. Select file in new window then select Library as ieee.

5. Then click compile.

6.after successful compile close compile window.

7. Now again click on design and click load design.

8. In next window click entity which you have declared in program and click load.

9. Now click on view and select signals. Signal window will appear.

10. Now select input goto edit >Force now change value to 0 or 1. Click on small icon which is exactly below run menu.

11. To view waveforms click on view in signals window view>wave>signals in design.
